This past fall we hired Mr. Colin Bester as our General Contractor to build a second floor above our existing ranch house in Westhampton Beach. From the very beginning, until the very end of this project, Colin has been gracious, knowledgeable, perfectionistic, extremely competent and “a man of his word”.
Not only did he diligently oversee every sub-contractor, every detail and decision having to do with this construction, but he also kept us constantly informed as to the progress. He began the work in the Fall of 2008 estimating that the house would be completed by the end of May 2009. To our delight Colin completed this project two months earlier than anticipated; meaning the end of March 2009. Colin also respected the parameters of our budget and carefully stayed within our budget.
If we were to begin this project today, knowing what we now know, we would definitely hire Colin as our contractor. We unequivocally recommend Colin and feel confident that he will work hard not only to meet your expectations but to exceed them.

Colin was the General Contractor for the “down to the studs” renovation of our home last year. We give him our highest and unqualified recommendation.
To give you a quick overview of his competence and determination, he started demolition in January 2006 and we were back in our home for Memorial Day at the end of May, just as he had promised. The job was substantial. It involved every wall, floor, and ceiling, pipe and wire in the house. We first had approached him in September about the project. He introduced us to the architect (whom we also highly recommend) and worked with us throughout the entire planning and permitting process.
Colin was easy to work with. He had a good overall sense of the entire project, understood our vision, was sensitive to all our needs, and used common sense. He knew exactly what it took to move the project along and us along with it, and he knew how to translate the project from paper to the real world seamlessly. He was responsive to our needs and flexible when necessary. He was concerned about costs and always looked to “get the most bang for the buck.” He worked well with all the subcontractors, demanding and obtaining the best quality and performance. He was on the job every day until it got done. Colin had the right balance of mastery of the whole project and attention to detail from beginning to end. After the project was completed, he followed up to make sure everything was done properly and to our satisfaction.
He is as proud of our new home as we are. His quality, workmanship, good taste, good nature, and pride in his work are unsurpassed.
